Regional Credit Manager

Job Details:

    • Responsible for overseeing the credit assessment and risk management processes across multiple locations, ensuring timely approvals, portfolio quality, and compliance with company policies. Collaborates with sales and finance teams to drive business growth while minimizing credit risk.
    • 1. Pre-Approval Due Diligence /Verification of Borrowers & Scrutiny of Documents
    • a Ensure the Verification Team reviews loan files for accuracy and completeness according to regulations, policies, and procedures, addressing discrepancies before processing.
    • b Ensure the Verification Team verifies borrower information and checks creditworthiness through pre-approval verifications (physical or telephonic).
    • c Ensure the Verification Team assesses the borrower’s understanding of the business, loan purpose, and key terms, including client protection and default obligations.
    • d Ensure both sales and verification teams adhere to client protection principles and ethical conduct standards.
    • e Ensure Credit Policy/ Procedures / Guidelines circulated from time to time are being adhered to throughout the Region.
    • f Ensure that exceptions are obtained and documented as per policy before approval.
    • 2. Credit Reviews and Monitoring:
    • a Review post disbursement credit files on sample basis disbursed at branch level to ensure completeness, compliance of policies and procedures.
    • b Conduct post disbursement verifications through Verification Officers & self (as applicable) and consolidate findings for onward sharing with all stakeholders on frequent basis.
    • c Thoroughly review of Internal / External / SBP audit reports of respective branches and ensure that credit related observations are rectified & closed in timely manners;
    • d Conduct regular sessions with branch team to eliminate repeated and common findings related to credit. Share reasons of such findings and corrective action with branches and management.
    • e Maintain branch wise / VO wise MIS of cases received / approved / rejected; Coordinate to report error free VO performance for incentive calculation in timely manner;
    • f Consolidate the reasons of rejections at branches and region wise for onward submission to Head Office
    • 3. Portfolio Quality & Default Management
    • a Review of NPL trend of branches and establish feedback loop with branches and Regional Business Manager and Executive Manager Credit Verification / Credit Risk Team at Head Office to identify the reasons of default including portfolio frauds (if any) in a timely manner;
    • 4. Gold Smith Onboarding/Gold Reassessment & Auction Process
    • a Ensure a thorough background check of goldsmiths, including reputation, business history, and financial stability through Verification team.
    • b Ensure to Conduct quarterly verification and monitor goldsmith performance to ensure agreement compliance.
    • c Ensure periodic reassessment of gold collateral to maintain accurate loan-to-value (LTV) ratios.
    • d Oversee reassessment procedures, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards.
    • e Ensure proper documentation and reporting for gold reassessment in line with policies.
    • f Ensure the gold auction process follows bank guidelines, including customer notifications and approvals.
    • 5. Leadership & Team Development and Training
    • a Supervise and manage Verification teams, fill vacancies promptly, and ensure succession planning.
    • b Provide training to Branch Sales & Verification Staff to strengthen credit assessment and monitoring.
    • c Coordinate annual goal setting and appraisals for Verification Officers.
    • d Visit branches, hold periodic meetings, and address issues while creating a feedback loop.
    • e Manage staff rotation and leave plans.
    • 6. Any other task assigns by Line Manager and Head of Department.
    • Essential Skills:
    • • Sound knowledge of microfinance / consumer lending principles and comprehension of prudential regulations.
    • • Exposure of financial sector (microfinance banking) will be an added advantage.
    • • Able to work independently and in a fast pace environment
    • • Strong financial / credit analytical skills
    • • Strong Portfolio analysis & monitoring skills
    • • Effective Interpersonal Skills, Communication and Team Building abilities
    • • Excellent customer service / Excellent attitude & behavior
    • • Working knowledge of banking computer-based software & systems
    • Educational Qualification
    • • Must be Graduate ideally in Commerce, Business Administration, Math/Statistics, preference will be given to Master degree.
