This is a role in the Strategy / Sustainability/ Financial Inclusion / Women Financial Services that focuses on governance and implementation & coordination of the Bank’s ESG/climate-focused strategy. The individual will be responsible for collaborating /communicating/influencing stakeholders to also ensure compliance with the State Bank of Pakistan’s guidelines related to ESG assigned to Financial Institutions
Develop & support institution’s climate financing initiatives to promote green banking
and ensure that the bank/DFI complies with State Bank of Pakistan’s guidelines
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to introduce and apply a climate resilience lens
within the financial institution’s policies and practices to enable a shift toward climatefriendly business practices.
• Review the existing and new products & services offerings with a climate change
perspective in collaboration with business & product teams.
• Ensure development of new digital financial products focusing on climate financing
including startups with business and digital teams.
• Support other departments/offices for matters of green banking and manage the
reporting on green banking on behalf of the other departments.
• Work with external stakeholders including academia, fintech, chambers of commerce, INGOs, etc. to develop and market Climate-friendly products & services, secure funding
and grants and provide awareness.
• Collect and consolidate data/information on green banking and ESG activities and
initiatives for its onward reporting to the senior management/Board and SBP, as and
when such data/information is sought.
• Prepare, develop, manage, and refine qualitative + quantitative dashboards/trackers, to
meet the needs of the management, stakeholders & regulator to create visibility and
support effective decision-making.
• Maintain regular sync with stakeholders to track agreed milestones, success criteria &
targets. Take timely actions and support from stakeholders for establishing & delivering
mechanisms for tracking progress & report to stakeholders via a formal communications
plan.
Collaborate and work with cross-functional teams in Finance/Strategy, Product,
Compliance & Technology, etc. to ensure that unit’s strategy, and business value are well
aligned.
• Prepare research-based data for knowledge sharing and strategic insightsharing sessions
and inputs with senior management.
• Act as main point of contact for liaising with Head office & regional teams and key project
delivery stakeholders to facilitate the active contribution and effective implementation
of assigned tasks.
• Actively participate in the Group’s ESG forum and coordinate with internal stakeholders
to support Group’s ESG initiatives.
• Manage the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.Conduct research on peer
institutions’ ESG initiatives and provide input for the development of the Bank’s ESG
Strategy
• Manage award submissions for the Bank’s ESG portfolio
Education: At least bachelor’s in Business Management, Marketing, Public Policy, Sustainable
Development, Economics or Finance from a reputable university.
• 5 years of experience in managing diverse tasks and delivering on ESG/climate goals, at
least 2 years of experience in banking & digital financial services.
• Commercially astute, who understands the concepts of ESG, climate change, green
financing, digital products, and why/how it translates into business value (qualitative +
quantitative).
• Strong communicator, influencer across organization and partners, via presentations and
negotiation.
• Ability to work in challenging environments with ambitious targets and diverse teams.
• Strong achievement drive with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with
various teams to ensure optimal work is done and efficiently manage change.
