The Unit Head – Compliance Risk Management & Advisory is responsible for establishing, maintaining and continuously enhancing the Bank's Compliance Risk Management and Regulatory Advisory framework in line with the requirements of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other applicable regulatory and legal authorities.
The position provides independent, proactive and risk-based compliance oversight and advisory support to the Bank's business and support functions, ensuring that regulatory requirements are appropriately identified, interpreted, translated into internal controls and effectively implemented.
The role will act as a key compliance partner to senior management and business units by identifying emerging compliance risks, advising on regulatory implications of products, processes, transactions and strategic initiatives, and ensuring timely remediation of identified compliance gaps.
A. Compliance Risk Management Framework
Develop, implement and continuously enhance the Bank's Compliance Risk Management Framework (CRMF) in accordance with applicable SBP requirements and leading regulatory practices.
Establish a structured methodology for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and reporting compliance risks across the Bank. Coordinating with SBP on regulatory reporting as well as ad-hoc compliance status requisition.
Maintain the Bank's compliance risk taxonomy, risk universe, risk appetite/tolerance indicators and compliance risk assessment methodology.
Conduct periodic Compliance Risk Assessments (CRA) covering business units, products, processes, channels and legal entities, as applicable.
Ensure compliance risks are incorporated into the Bank's overall risk management framework and governance processes.
Identify material and emerging compliance risks and ensure appropriate escalation to the Head- Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer and relevant governance forums.
Develop and monitor compliance Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and early-warning indicators.
Maintain an effective compliance risk inventory and ensure that material regulatory obligations are appropriately mapped to responsible functions and controls.
B. Regulatory Advisory
Provide authoritative and timely compliance advice to business, operations, technology, product, risk, treasury, HR, finance and other functions.
Interpret SBP regulations, circulars, notifications, directives, guidelines and other applicable regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the Bank.
Advise management on the regulatory and compliance implications of:
New products and services
Product/process changes
Digital and technology initiatives
Outsourcing arrangements
Strategic projects
New delivery channels
Customer propositions
Marketing and promotional activities
Significant transactions and business arrangements
Establish a formal Compliance Advisory / Regulatory Interpretation mechanism to ensure consistency and appropriate documentation of advice.
Review and challenge proposed policies, procedures and business initiatives from a regulatory compliance perspective.
Escalate material regulatory interpretation issues to the Chief Compliance Officer and, where necessary, seek appropriate clarification from the relevant regulatory authority.
C. Compliance Culture & Awareness
Promote a strong culture of compliance across the Bank.
Develop and coordinate compliance awareness programs for staff and management.
Identify training requirements arising from regulatory changes, compliance incidents and monitoring findings.
Support development of targeted training for high-risk business and support functions.
Promote management accountability for compliance and reinforce the principle that compliance is an integral part of business decision-making.
Minimum experience: 8-10 years. Education: BBA/BS/MBA/ACCA
