The Head of Policy is a senior role within MMBL's Credit function, responsible for the Bank's product policies, manuals, credit circulars and the broader credit governance framework across SME, consumer, digital and merchant lending. Beyond policy stewardship, the role owns credit analytics for the lending portfolio and partners closely with Technology and Product teams to design and digitise customer journeys end-to-end, ensuring that credit policy, controls and decisioning logic are embedded natively within digital platforms. The incumbent plays a central role in the Bank's transition to Digital Retail Banking (DRB), ensuring product governance keeps pace with the Bank's digitisation agenda while remaining firmly anchored in regulatory compliance and portfolio quality discipline.
• Own and maintain the Bank's complete suite of product policies, product manuals, credit circulars and the broader credit governance framework across SME, consumer, digital and merchant lending products, ensuring alignment with SBP prudential regulations and the Bank's approved risk appetite.
• Lead the periodic review, update and version control of credit policies, product manuals and SOPs in line with the defined policy review cycle, regulatory changes issued by SBP, and evolving business and product needs.
• Ensure timely drafting and issuance of internal circulars capturing policy amendments, new product launches and regulatory instructions, with a clear audit trail and version history for regulatory and audit purposes.
• Serve as the credit function's principal point of contact for Internal Audit, Compliance and SBP inspections on matters of policy, product governance and credit documentation.
• Own credit analytics for the Bank's lending portfolio — including NPL trends, vintage analysis, scorecard and credit model performance, and portfolio quality indicators — translating insights into policy recalibration and credit strategy recommendations.
• Partner closely with Technology and Product teams to design, digitise and continuously improve end-to-end customer journeys across SME, consumer, merchant and digital lending products, ensuring credit policy, controls and approval logic are embedded natively within digital flows rather than retrofitted.
• Lead end-to-end management of product digitisation initiatives from the credit function's side, converting manual and paper-based credit processes into fully digital, LOS-integrated journeys, in support of the Bank's transition to Digital Retail Banking (DRB).
• Define, document and own credit decision rules, scoring thresholds and delegated approval matrices embedded within the Loan Origination System (LOS) and other digital platforms, working closely with Credit Analytics, Risk and Technology teams.
• Act as the principal bridge between Credit Risk and Product/Business teams during new product design and development, ensuring credit risk, policy and regulatory considerations are built in at the design stage.
• Track, monitor and report on policy exceptions, deviations and waivers across the credit portfolio, ensuring appropriate escalation, documentation and governance oversight.
• Ensure product policies, manuals and governance documentation are DRB-ready ahead of SBP's assessment of the Bank's digital retail banking licence application.
• Provide policy interpretation, guidance and training to field, branch and credit teams to ensure consistent, Bank-wide application of credit policy and product rules.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• 8–12 years of progressive experience in credit policy, credit risk or credit analytics roles within a bank, including at least 3–4 years in a policy leadership, Product or governance capacity.
• Strong working knowledge of SBP prudential regulations, particularly those governing microfinance banking, consumer and SME lending, and digital financial services.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with Technology and Product teams on digital lending journeys and system-embedded credit decisioning (LOS or equivalent platforms).
• Experience operating in a digital transformation or digital retail banking environment is strongly preferred.
